Msida man arrested after brandishing knife during argument

An off-duty policeman who was at the scene relieved the man of his weapon and kept the peace until district police arrived

An off-duty policeman's quick thinking prevented what could have been a dangerous situation yesterday when he took a knife from a man involved in an argument before he could injure the other person.

At about 7pm, police were informed that an argument had broken out in Triq ix-Xatt, Ta' Xbiex. Two Msida residents, one 65 years of age, the other 68, were arguing when the younger man brandished a knife.

An off-duty policeman happened to be nearby and he intervened, disarming the man and keeping the peace until district police arrived on site. The armed man was arrested and investigations are underway.
