Man grievously injured in traffic accident

A 39-year-old man was grievously injured in a traffic accident in Luqa on Saturday, the police said.

The incident occurred in Triq l-Avjazzjoni at around 4:50pm after a Land Rover crashed into a stationary Maruti. Inside the Maruti was a 39-year-old Sudanese man residing in Zurrieq.

Emergency officials rushed the Sudanese to Mater Dei Hospital where he was later certified to be suffering from grievous injuries. His condition is not critical.

The driver of the Land Rover, a 41-year-old man from Qormi, escaped unharmed.

Police investigations are ongoing.
