Youth charged with attacking officers during Nadur carnival

22-year-old man from Zabbar arraigned under arrest after allegedly attacking and disobeying two police officers

Celebrations at the popular Nadur Carnival yesterday turned violent after a 22-year-old man from Zabbar allegedly attacked two police officers.

The Zabbar youth was arrested on Saturday night and arraigned under arrest on Sunday before Magistrate Joanne Vella Cuschieri presiding over the Gozo Courts. The man was charged with attacking and disobeying a police Constable and a police Sergeant, breaching the peace, and breaching conditions imposed by the Court of Magistrates in Malta.

The man pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The court granted him bail against a deposit of €500 and a personal guarantee of €5,000.

Police Inspector Bernard Charles Spiteri prosecuted.
