Robbers hold-up shop in Gzira and make off with cash

Some cash was stolen from a shop in Gzira at around 9.50pm last night, the police saud.

The hold up, carried out by two hooded men, took place at a shop which is at a corner between Rue d’Argens and Fleet Street in Gzira.

District police and members of the criminal investigation department said that preliminary investigations revealed that the two men, one holding a weapon, held the shop assistant up at gunpoint, and demanded the money.

The victim, a 64-year-old man, did not sustain any injuries, but the robbers took off with a substantial amount of cash.

A Magisterial Inquiry was appointed into the case.

Investigations by the District Police and Criminal Investigation Department are still underway.
