Elderly pedestrian run over by car, in danger of dying

67-year-old man in critical condition after being ran over by a car while he was crossing the road

A 67-year-old man from Tarxien is in critical condition after being ran over early this morning.

The incident occurred at around 5am in Triq Katarine Vitale, Santa Lucija, when a Fiat Punto driven by a 23-year-old man from St Lucija hit the elderly pedestrian while he was crossing the road.

The man was taken to Mater Dei Hospital, where he was certified to be suffering from critical injuries and is in danger of dying.

A magisterial inquiry is under way.
