Court registry workers sent home after inhaling toxic fumes

Majority of workers walk out of court registry with some employees suffering from breathing difficulties and dizziness

Court registry workers this morning walked out of their offices after complaining of strong toxic fumes, with some workers suffering from breathing difficulties and dizziness.

The toxic fumes are thought to be emitted from works going on inside the building, with witnesses telling MaltaToday that the offices “smelt of paint thinner.”

UHM officials informed the court management of the walk out. MaltaToday understands that the registry reemained open but the majority of workers refused to return before it is safe.

Later, Occupational Health and Safety Authority (OHSA) declared the place unsafe because of the odour left by paint works and all employees were sent home.
