Hooded burglar robs, injures 89-year-old woman

An 89-year-old British woman was hospitalised this afternoon after a hooded burglar targeted her home in Marsaskala.

Police said the robbery occurred today at abound 12:30pm in the woman’s residence in Triq l-Imriekeb, Marsaskala. The robber, who is said to be Maltese, entered the house and stole jewellery which the woman was wearing.

The robber was chased away by two passers-by who had realised of the danger, only for him to escape in a waiting getaway car before being apprehended. 

An ambulance conveyed the woman to Mater Dei Hospital for treatment before being discharged.

Police investigations are ongoing.
