Schoolchildren discharged from hospital after gas leak from bus air-conditioner

Five schoolchildren were hospitalised this morning at about 9:45am after being taken ill while on their school bus in Cospicua

The fifth-year De La Salle Primary pupils were on their way to a school trip when the bus stopped shortly after leaving the school following an issue with the air-conditioning system.

Paramedics were called on the spot and they examined all the children.

Eight of them were taken to hospital for further checks. All eight were discharged at 1pm from hospital. Parents and guardians of all the school’s pupils have been given the details of the incident.

The police have confirmed that the cause of the illness was a gas leakage from the van’s air conditioner.

All the children are in stable condition.
