One arrested after Drugs Squad operation nets 1.5kg cannabis haul

Officers from the Drugs Squad arrested the 37 year-old subject after days of observiation

A man from Siggiewi is expected to be charged after a police surveillance operation led to a discovery of a significant amount of cannabis.

After days of observing the 37 year-old subject, officers from the Drugs Squad moved in and discovered around 30 plants alleged to be of the cannabis sativa variety. Police also found containers stuffed with around 500 grammes of what are suspected to be cannabis leaves, divided into sachets and ready to be sold. Other items related to drug trafficking were also found. A total of over 1.5kg of cannabis grass was reportedly discovered.

He is expected to be charged with cultivation, aggravated possession and trafficking of cannabis.
