Four injured in head-on crash at Marsa

Three youths and a woman were treated in hospital for slight injuries, with one of the youths being described as having suffered serious, but not life-threatening, injuries

Four persons have been injured in a traffic accident on the Marsa by-pass last night.

The head-on collision, between a Kia Pride and a Toyota Yaris, occurred at around 9:00 pm, according to a statement issued  by the police.

The Kia, which had been heading in the direction of Marsa was being driven by a 19-year old man from Birkirkara and was carrying two male passengers, both also 19 and from the same town as the driver. A 33-year old woman from Kercem in Gozo was behind the wheel of the Toyota.

Civil protection department personnel assisted ambulance crewmembers at the scene.

All four were treated in hospital for slight injuries, with one of the male passengers later being described as having suffered serious, but not life-threatening, injuries.

Police investigations into the cause of the accident are ongoing.
