A car accident involving three cars landed three people in hospital late this morning.

The driver of a Hyundai, a 67-year-old Englishman, as well as his wife, 60, and a 9-month-old boy who were passengers in his car, were conveyed to Mater Dei hospital by ambulance to receive treatment after being involved in a secondary collisiong.

The initial collision had just taken place between a BMW and a Mazda on Burmarrad Road in St Paul’s Bay at 11:35, when both cars were being driven in the direction of Mosta. This led the 50-year-old Turkish man behind the wheel of the BMW to collide with the Englishman’s Hyundai, which was coming from the opposite direction.

The woman had reportedly suffered grievous injuries while the man and the child were slightly injured.

Both the Turkish driver, who is a resident of St Paul’s Bay, and the 26-year-old man, of Qormi, driving the Mazda, were unharmed.
