A Maltese man made it on Italian headlines earlier this week when he was reportedly arrested for assaulting a woman in bar.

According to a report Il Corriere della Sera, the man was in the presence of three English women at a pub on Via del Plebiscito. The report says that the group, whose ages ranged between 23 and 54, had had a few drinks too many when, for unknown reasons, a fight broke out and the man kicked and punched a 27-year-old Russian tourist.

Other party-goers present in the bar are said to have tried to hold back the Maltese man, while others called for help. Police arrived on the scene a few moments later.

The Russian woman was taken to a local hospital for treatment. She is reportedly expected to be held for seven days, due to various cuts and bruises to the head and face.
