Updated | Woman killed in house fire

The police have confirmed that a woman has died in Isla early this evening. The woman, aged 50, died as a result of a fire.

It is understood that the fire started from the bedroom.

The house is located in Triq San Pietru u San Pawl and the woman, who lives on her own, was alone at the time of the incident.

Neighbours tried to give their assistance, but to no avail. Firefighters were called in to control the fire while paramedics confirmed the woman dead on site.

A magisterial inquiry has been launched.
