An Englishman, 55, has been hospitalised to receive treatment for smoke inhalation after a fire broke out in his apartment this morning.

Police sources could not confirm the cause of the fire but local media reported that it started from an electric heater, citing a spokesperson for the Civil Protection Department.

The apartment was part of a block on Triq il-Paci, St Paul’s Bay.

Police told MaltaToday that no one was injured as a result of the fire.

Police and members of the Civil Protection Department were dispatched on the scene to assist with the situation after being informed of the case at 6:15am.
