Woman, 80, injured in traffic accident

An 80-year-old woman from Haz-Zebbug was hospitalised earlier today suffering from grievous injuries following a collision between two cars.

The incident happened at around 11.15am in Triq tac-Cawl, Rabat.

Preliminary investigations show that a Mazda 2 – driven by a 43-year-old woman from Imqabba – was involved in a collision with a Mitsubishi Pajero Junior. The Pajero was being driven by a 52-year-old woman from Zejtun, carrying two female passengers: a woman, 58 from Fgura and the elderly woman.

Both passengers were taken to Mater Dei Hospital. The 58-year-old woman was found not to have suffered any injuries.

Investigations by the police are underway.
