Two motorists have died in an Italian highway accident that claimed the life of a Maltese driver. The accident was one of two separate events which occurred a few hours apart on the same highway. Preliminary reports show that Colerio’s truck collided with another heavy vehicle, but was not overturned.

The accident happened on Monday, 23 January, after 3pm, on the A21 highway between Torino and Piacenza, at an intersection between the towns of Stradella and Castelsangiovanni.

The two victims had been driving southbound towards Piacenza, when two heavy vehicles, a truck carrying construction material, lost its balance and crashed into another vehicle.

The two drivers of the heavy vehicles, Angelo Ferrari, 55, and the Maltese driver Emanuel Coleiro, 59, lost their lives. A third motorist heading towards Stradella was injured in a subsequent accident probably caused by the toppling of the truck.

Fahrenheit Freight Forwarders, the company for whom Coleiro worked, is in contact with the relevant authorities involved in the matter. "Fahrenheit wishes to offer their condolences to the victim’s closest friends and relatives," the company said.
