Iklin shop held up by 'armed and hooded man'

Police are investigating reports of a hold-up at an Iklin shop, where an 'armed and hooded man' is alleged to have made off with an amount of cash

An armed and hooded man made off with an unspecified amount of cash following a hold-up in a shop on Tuesday evening, a shop employee has alleged.

The police said a call for assistance was received at round 7pm and officers from the Birkirkara police station went immediately to the shop in Giovanni Curmi Street in Iklin.

A 44-year-old female employee, from Birkirkara, claimed that a hooded man, armed with a firearm, had held her up at gunpoint and run away with an amount of cash.

The police confirmed no one was injured in the incident.

Investigations are continuing.
