A woman’s body has been extracted from the sea after being spotted by passersby at Zonqor point this morning.

The Armed Forces of Malta undertook an operation to extract the body from the sea after it was spotted at about 7:00am. The corpse was recovered and taken to Haywharf.

Yesterday evening, the AFM deployed a helicopter and a boat to search for a woman who fell into the sea in Sliema.

The woman fell in the sea by Ghar id-Dud near the Preluna Hotel at around 6pm, state broadcaster TVM reported.

The AFM reportedly had a hard time searching for the woman, due to the darkness and the weather conditions.

It has not yet been confirmed if the body found this morning is the same woman who rescuers were searching for yesterday.
