A cyclist has suffered grievous injuries after being involved in a collision with a car yesterday evening.

The 24-year-old victim, of Cospicua, was hit by an Opel Astra driven by a 42-year-old Zabbar resident, at about 9:20pm on Triq Wied il-Ghajn, Zabbar.

The victim was conveyed to Mater Dei hospital to receive treatment for his injuries.

In a Facebook post this morning, Antmar Gatt claimed the accident had been “a hit-and-run.”

However, police claim that the car involved in the accident had been found at the scene together with the driver.

Gatt claimed to have sustained injuries to the face and arm, as well as a broken right leg, adding that his bicycle was damaged beyond repair.

The police investigations are ongoing.
