Two men arrested after being found in possession of cannabis

Two men have been arrested after body searches carried out by police resulted in the discovery of bags of cannabis.

The arrests were made yesterday evening after police observed a 29-year-old Gambian man behaving suspiciously in Bugibba square at about 10:45pm.

Upon carrying out a body search, police found 15 bags of cannabis, a digital scale, as well as a sum of cash on his person.

A search of the man’s residence in St Paul’s Bay yielded other items related to drug trafficking, police said.

A second Gambian man, 28, was also at the residence at the time police carried out the raid. He was found to be in possession of a bag filled with cannabis.

Both men were arrested for further questioning by police.
