Research carried out by the police forensic laboratory has shown that a particular crucifix dates back to 1683.

On request of art conservation and restoration company PrevArti, the forensic laboratory undertook research to uncover “any kind of indication, dates or markings possibly on the crucifix.”

“We managed to determine a more precise timeframe for when the sculpture was made, as well as discovering a fingerprint on the crucifix which we managed to lift and store in our files,” inspector Ryan Caruana from the forensic laboratory said.

UV infrared light was used during tests to reveal the marking, which was not visible to the naked eye.
