Four injured in Mdina accident

Three Italian nationals and local driver were taken to Mater Dei Hospital for medical treatment following a collision

Four people were taken to Mater Dei Hospital following a traffic accident in Mdina early on Sunday morning.

According to the police, they were informed an accident had taken place in Triq l-Infetti at roughly 4.30am.

Preliminary investigations indicated that a collision had taken place between two cars - a Citroen Berlingo driven by a 66-year old man residing in Mtarfa, and a Vauxhall Corsa driven by a 26-year old Italian national residing in San Gwann.

The Italian driver was accompanied by two passengers a 19-year old female, and a 20-year old female, both of Italian nationality.

All persons involved in the accident were taken to Mater Dei Hospital for treatment.

The younger of the two passengers was certified as having sustained serious injuries while the second was certified to have injuries of a more grievous nature. The condition of both drivers has not yet been established.

The case was referred to duty magistrate Donatella Frendo Dimech who ordered an inquiry.

Police investigations are still ongoing.
