A man was arrested yesterday afternoon when 3kg of cocaine were found in his luggage at Malta International Airport.

The man, a 45-year-old Greek national, was arrested as he arrived in Malta, after a search on his luggage exposed the suspicious packages.

The man is being kept in custody and is expected to be arraigned in court in front of duty magistrate Doreen Clarke on charges of aggravated possession and trafficking of cocaine, as well as conspiring with a third person to traffic the drugs to Malta.

Duty Magistrate Neville Camilleri is leading the inquiry.
