Elderly cyclist hospitalised after being hit by motorist

A 72-year-old man from Zabbar was hospitalised with grievous injuries this afternoon after he was hit by a car while riding his bicycle.

The accident occurred at around 12:10pm on Triq il-Kappuccini, Zabbar, and involved a Hyundai Getz driven by a 57-year-old woman, resident of Xghajra.

An ambulance was called on site to take the cyclist to Mater Dei hospital for further treatment. Later, he was certified as suffering from grievous injuries.

Police investigation is still ongoing.
