Young woman fatally run over by taxi in Regional Road tunnel tragedy

A young Italian woman was killed early this morning when she was run over by a white taxi while walking through the Regional Road tunnel in St Julian’s.

The police said that the tragic accident occurred at around 4:30 am and that the woman, who has yet to be identified, died on the spot. The taxi was being driven by a 59-year-old man from Mosta, and pictures show that the vehicle’s windscreen, bonnet and right headlight were severely damaged upon impact.
