Man, 31, dies in fall off ship in Birzebbugia

A 31-year-old man died yesterday after falling into a tanker hole while working on a ship at the Oil Tanking Facilities in Birzebbugia.

Police said the accident happened at around 5pm and that the Turkish victim fell from a height of six metres.

Civil Protection Department personnel were called to the site but the man was declared dead on the spot.

The duty magistrate opened an inquiry and appointed a number of experts to assist in the investigations.
