Threats to share ex’s naked photos land youth in court

A 17-year-old has been placed under probation for two years after he admitted to threatening to share naked photos of his former girlfriend.

The youth, from Mtarfa, was also charged with possession of indecent material.

He admitted to having threatened the girl with the photos that she had shared with him when they were still together, after their relationship ended.

Malta criminalised revenge porn in 2016.

Magistrate Josette Demicoli also ordered the teenager, who will not be placed on the sex offenders’ list because he is still a minor, not to contact his former girlfriend.

Lawyer Robert Galea appeared for the accused. Prosecution was led by inspector Joseph Busuttil.
