No bail for man accused of Sliema burglary

A man has been remanded in custody after pleading not guilty to stealing money and valuables from a house in Sliema.

Police Inspectors Fabian Fleri and Mark Mercieca arraigned Silvio Pace, 48 of Hamrun, before magistrate Josette Demicoli this morning,on charges of aggravated theft and relapsing into criminal activity.

Pace was accused of having broken into the residence at around 10am on August 13, making off with jewellery and cash. The charges were rendered aggravated by the value of the items stolen.

Pace was also accused of recidivism due to his several previous convictions.

Lawyer Yanika Bugeja, appointed as legal aid to the accused, entered a not guilty plea. Pace was remanded in custody.
