Policeman seriously injured in accident after car smashes into his bike

A police officer from Naxxar was seriously injured while riding his service bike in Qormi this afternoon after being run down by a car, the police said.

The accident happened in Mdina Road when a Toyota Yaris driven by a 45-year-old man from Santa Venera crashed into the police motorbike, a statement said.

The police officer was taken to Mater Dei hospital where he was certified of suffering from serious injuries.
