Man seriously injured in Sliema fight

Hamrun resident was allegedly hit by a scalpel

A 43-year-old man from Hamrun was grievously hurt after having been involved in an argument which turned into a physical altercation in Sliema.

The fight, which happened at around 9pm in an establishment located on the Sliema seafront, involved another man, 41, also from Hamrun.

An instrument, likely a scalpel, was used during the argument, the police said, resulting in the 43-year-old man having to be taken to Mater Dei Hospital, where his injuries were later determined to be serious in nature.

The 41-year-old man was slightly injured, and was held in police custody to assist in the investigation on the incident.
