Emergency euro summit called after Greeks reject bailout offer

Heads of state or government in the euro area to meet in Brussels on Tuesday

European Council President Donald Tusk has convened an emergency meeting to the euro area leaders in Brussels. The 19 heads of state or government will be meeting on Tuesday to discuss the way forward following the 'No' vote win in the Greek bailout referendum.

Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras has described the vote as a mandate which gives him "greater negotiating strength".

"The mandate you've given me does not call for a break with Europe, but rather gives me greater negotiating strength. Today's referendum doesn't have winners or losers. It is a great victory, in and of itself."

He added: "Even in the most difficult circumstances, democracy can't be blackmailed - it is a dominant value and the way forward."

Going back to the negotiating table with the creditors, the Greek PM knows it's not going to be easy: "We know that there are no easy solutions. But there are just solutions. As long as there is willingness on both sides."
