BA decision shows PBS is ‘Nationalist propaganda tool’ – Labour
The Broadcasting Authority has found the Public Broadcasting Services in breach of the law for imbalance in the way in a report on the Labour Party.
In a statement, the PL said PBS had broadcasted a “fictitious story” by trying to implicate Labour on a series of contradictions. But a right of reply by Labour deputy leader Anglu Farrugia was not broadcasted in its entirety and had added commentary to it that misled PBS audiences.
The BA said that PBS had breached Labour deputy leader Anglu Farrugia’s right to reply through the use of the MP’s visual and the title of its news item.
“This decision strengthens our belief that the PBS, continuously through its newsroom and certain current affairs programmes, under Natalino Fenech’s stewardship is being unbalanced towards Labour.
“It clearly shows that PBS is being used as a propaganda tool for the Nationalist Party,” Labour said.
