Borg who is also the Leader of the House expressed his gratitude to the Speaker of the House Michael Frendo and praised the Speaker for carrying out his "difficult" job in a distinguished way.
This means that Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi enters Thursday's Nationalist Party executive committee meeting, in which he said "important decisions will be taken," with Parliament in recess.
Gonzi may still be weighing the pros and cons of calling an election after the summer recess, however with no Parliamentary meeting in sight until October, he will at least avoid further embarrassment in the House.
Since January, the Government has lost a number of votes which have resulted in the resignation of former justice and home affairs minister Carm Mifsud Bonnici and Malta's Permanent Representative to the EU, Richard Cachia Caruana.
Nationalist MPs Franco Debono, Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando and Jesmond Mugliett are facing a possible expulsion from the PN after voting against the government or abstaining in crucial Parliamentary votes. The matter will be discussed in Thursday's PN executive meeting.
