Majority of SEC students obtain grade 1 to 5 results

Education ministry congratulates SEC students for obtaining between grades ranging between 1 and 7 in O-level exams

Education minister Dolores Cristina has congratulated students who sat for O-level exams for obtaining good results and encouraged those sitting for re-sits not to give up.

In a statement the ministry said over 7,300 students sat for 42,000 exams in 33 different subjects.

"The results are encouraging when one considers that 80% of the students sitting for Paper A and Paper B in the basic subjects obtained grades of between 1 and 7," it said.

The ministry said that students who sat for Paper A did exceptionally well in Maltese, English, Maths, Computer Studies and Physics. 89.7% in Maltese and English, 93% in Maths, 94.4% in Computer Studies and 89.9% in Phsyics obtained grades between 1 and 5.

Other good results were obtained in Italian, French, Biology and Chemistry.

Students who sat for intermediate and advanced levels exams are set to receive their results this week, the ministry added.
