MUMN lifts industrial directives in hospitals

Nurses union withdraws industrial directives in agreement reached with health division

The Malta Union of Midwives and Nurses (MUMN) said it had reached agreement on long-standing disputes both in Gozo General Hospital, Mater Dei Hospital and Boffa Hospital.

Industrial directives are now being removed from these hospitals.

MUMN president Paul Pace said the union’s pending issues are “open to discussion and not being presented as final…. The autonomy of Boffa Hospital is now to be discussed, including the matter of utilising Boffa Hospital as a pilot project for Mater Dei Hospital.”

Pace said there were still pending issues, such as parking at the new oncology hospital at Mater Dei and nursing complement. “MUMN looks forward so that this momentum continues in the interest of everyone concerned… lack of policies and strategy to manage Mater Dei Hospital and other hospitals cannot be allowed to continue.”
