Dominating the front pages is the news that PM Joseph Muscat has tabled Sai Mizzi Liang's pay slip in Parliament after several months of silence and speculation. After tax and social security, Mizzi Liang makes about €3,700 per month, a figure the PM said was comparable to the sums paid to previous ambassadors, with a similar benefits package.

Maximilian Ciantar has called himself the world's unluckiest man during his latest court hearing, after a verbal altercation at the scene of a car accident brought him to the police's attention once again. Ciantar was in court to face charges of driving negligently, during a court ban, without insurance or a driving license.

After the tabling of Sai Mizzi Liang's pay slip, the Opposition's questions on the full financial package the envoy receives went unanswered. This newspaper estimates that with allowances included, Mizzi Liang makes a total of €13,000 per month, even if this is not paid out as a salary.

This afternoon, members of the European Parliament will vote in Strasbourg on whether to name Jean-Claude Juncker as next head of the European Commission. A vote held tomorrow will determine the composition of the rest of the European Commission.

Tourism minister Edward Zammit Lewis has spoken out against illegal beach concessions but appears to not have been fully aware of the situation with regards to the restaurant in Mgarr ix-Xini, Gozo. NGOs lamented the government's inefficiency with dealing with the rampant illegal building on the island, saying the government had no political will to do what needed to be done.
