Pope appoints Maltese theologian as consultor

Pope Francis has appointed Maltese theologian Rev. Dr Hector Scerri as one of the Vatican’s consultors of its council for the promotion of Christian unity.

The 48-year-old Maltese theologian is currently head of the department of dogmatic theology at the University of Malta, where he has been lecturing for 16 years.

He also occupies the posts of president of the theological commission of the Maltese episcopal conference and the president of Maltese archdiocese’s ecumenical commission.
