The Libyan-Maltese Chamber of Commerce has expressed concern over the recent escalation of violence and unrest in Libya which it said was resulting in loss of lives, huge infrastructural damage and a negative effect on business between the two countries.

"The damage caused to Tripoli airport is also a matter of great concern for the chamber. We are assisting our members by regularly providing them with information. We are monitoring the situation on a daily basis and we are in contact with the government on the situation," the Chamber said.

The Chamber said it supported initiatives such as the setting up of a crisis centre. "We hope Libya will soon start to reap the fruits of the democratic process the country embarked upon."
