Call for harsher fines for people who park in disabled parking spaces

The National Commission for People with a Disability want to increase the fine for people who park on disabled parking spaces to €230

The National Commission for People with a Disability (KNPD) have appealed to the Government to raise the fine handed out to those people who park on places reserved for people with a disability from €23 to  €230.

In a statement, the KNPD said that they receive “continuous” complaints from people in possession of a blue badge who find cars without a blue bade on their dashboards parked in spaces reserved for people with disabilities.

Blue badges allows people with a disability to park in a number of central places. They are only handed out after applicants for it are examined by both the KNPD and a doctor independent of the commission.
