Hoax bomb alert on Malta flight to London Stansted

Ryanair says flight was security-cleared after landing and returned to service after two hours

A flight from Malta to London Stansted had to be inspected by security forces upon arrival in Stansted, following a hoax security alert.

A Ryanair spokesperson confirmed that the flight, departing Malta on 15 August, had to be security cleared.

The spokesperson said that customers disembarked normally and that the aircraft was cleared to return to service after approximately two hours.

Ryanair denied that the flight had to be accompanied by military fighter jets.

“Nobody was hurt but the plane was isolate and passengers taken away by bus. They eventually got their luggage later on in the night,” the source said.
