Justyne Caruana, Parliamentary Secretary for Rights of Persons with Disability and Active Aging, paid a visit to the new Outlook centre for the blind in Qormi this morning.

The new premises, one of ten day centres operated by Aġenzija Sapport, is the only one specialised for  needs of the visually impaired. The  day centre gives the patients the opportunity to socialise in a safe and friendly environment and also offers training in the use of computers and in reading Braille.  It currently caters for 20 patients.

Caruana, who later spent some time speaking with staff and patients, explained that the new centre makes a profile of every individual patient's needs and creates tailor-made training programs for the individual.

The centre aims to offer its services to sight-impaired people of all ages.
