GWU announces EU-funded project

“Increasing Employee Involvement in Sustainable Development of Undertakings” project set to cost €175,000

The GWU has announced the official launch of an EU-funded project designed to increase employee involvement in decisions taken in green undertakings.

The “Increasing Employee Involvement in Sustainable Development of Undertakings” project is the result of cooperation between several trade union partners from across the EU, including Malta, Italy, Hungary, Poland, Montenegro and the UK.

The project’s main aim is to extend knowledge on the role of trade unions in shaping the green economy as well as in influencing sustainable development of enterprises and is set to cost €175, 000.

In line with the GWU’s stated objective of promoting better working conditions for its members and improving their standard of living, the project  is intended to also give an opportunity to employers and employees to collaborate on new ways and methods of creating a better workplace.

It will give participants the opportunity to share their experience in implementing the mechanisms of employee involvement in their companies, in identifying the problems related to insufficient employee involvement and in creating and implementing sustainable development policies.

The project is intended to serve as a "stepping stone" in preparing a national and transnational strategy for enhancing employee involvement in economic, social and environmental aspects of their companies’ development.
