PM Muscat met with Singapore's PM Loong yesterday, discussing collaboration in various sectors

Prime minister Joseph Muscat met with Singapore's prime minister Lee Hsien Loong yesterday, discussing energy, healthcare and the Commonwealth.

Muscat said that the energy sector is a priority for Malta and explained that the government's vision is to make the country an energy hub. Europe, Muscat said, is looking at difference sources of energy to reduce its dependence on other countries for gas provision.

The two leaders also talked about the possibility of collaboration between the two countries in the health sector.

Muscat extended an invitation for Loong to attend the Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting, which will be held in Malta next year.

PM Loong said that he believes that the two countries share similarities and as such, there are opportunities for collaboration. Singapore is celebrating 50 years of its own independence and he congratulated the Maltese on their own 50th anniversary of independence.
