Helena Dalli denies connection with spouse's firm over illegal works on villa

Equal Opportunities Minister Helena Dalli is adamant that she has had no commercial interest in her spouse's firm PADA Builders, after the firm was implicated over illegal works carried out on a property it owns.

“I never had any commercial interest in PADA Builders. I declared in my assets in parliament because it fell under the Community of Acquests, which means that such interest could only be triggered if I separate from my husband or if he dies before me. I have no shares in PADA and I have no position within that company,” Dalli said in replies to the press on questions about the illegal works on a farmhouse in Zejtun.

“I don’t know of any work that is going on on a property that is not mine,” Dalli said, who insisted that a promise-of-sale with the prospective buyer of the villa - the person who has carried out the illegal works - had been tabled in parliament.

Dalli has previously said that an earth mover bearing the PADA insignia and photographed on the site of the villa, was not functioning and not involved in the works carried out at the villa.
