CHOGM will be held on 27-29 November

This year’s theme will be ‘Adding global values’.

The next Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting will be held in Malta between the 27 and 29 November 2015, according to a joint statement released by Prime Minister Joseph Muscat and Commonwealth secretary-general Kamalesh Sharma.

The CHOGM is held every two years and is the Commonwealth’s highest consultative and policy-making body, bringing together the representatives of 53 countries.

The CHOGM will hear the views of the citizens of the Commonwealth through forums for youth, women, business and civil society.

This year’s theme will be ‘Adding global values’.

Muscat said that the Commonwealth’s strength as an institution lies in its diversity and the CHOGM was an opportunity to review where governments stand on issues that affect their people.

Sharma said that the meeting, which brought together countries in various stages of development, was a change to plan practical solutions for global challenges, based on shared values and principles.
