Government distributes over €5 million worth of scholarships

Total of 388 students get ready for more research and studies following the allocation of over €5 million in Master It scholarships alone

A total of 388 students are getting reading to launch themselves in countless nights of research and studies after receiving their scholarship this evening during a ceremony held at the Mediterranean Conference Centre, in Valletta.

Presented by Education Minister Evarist Bartolo and parliamentary secretary for EU funds Ian Borg, over €5 million worth of Master It scholarships were given to students.

The majority of the scholarships, 322, were funded through the Master It scheme, supported by the European Union. 66 others were issued under the government scholarship scheme, supported by local funds.

A total of 652 scholarships were awarded in two years under the Master It scheme.

In the coming months, the government will be offering for the first time EU-funded scholarships at post-doctorate levels. The Malta Arts Scholarships Scheme will reopen next month while in March the government will once again offer sports scholarships under the Malta Sports Scholarship Schemes.
