PN holds further meetings with Enemalta workers over ‘uncertain future’

Nationalist Party calls on government to instantly stop the 'discrimination' that exists between Enemalta workers with regards their redeployment to new jobs.

Shadow energy and employment ministers Marthese Portelli and Therese Comodini Cachia held a meeting with Enemalta workers and the Enemalta Senior Staff Union on Friday.

In a statement, the Nationalist Party said that Enemalta workers are currently passing through a “very difficult period”.

“The uncertainty that these workers are feeling about their future is high up on the agenda of these meetings,” the PN said. “We’ve invited all the unions whose members include Enemalta workers to partake in these meetings, and the General Workers’ Union was the only union that refused our invitation.”

Enemalta workers are reportedly concerned that the list of redeployment opportunities has not been made available to everyone and that their take-home pay could be in some way affected.

“We will continue pressuring the government to instantly stop the discrimination that exists between Enemalta workers with regards their redeployment to new jobs.”
