Transport ministry welcomes lifting of prohibitory injunction

Lifting the injunction, which stalled negotiations between the public transport service and the GWU, is the way forward - ministry

The transport ministry welomed the court decision that lifted a prohibitory injunction on negotiations between the Malta Public Transport Service and the General Workers Union.

In a press statement, the ministry said the decision was the way forward, ensuring that there were no more 'shocks' in store and that the transport service could continue progressing undisturbed.

"The ministry also welcomes the fact that the decision confirms that minister Joe Mizzi, as well as the chairman of Transport Malta, acted correctly," the statement reads.

"It also means that negotiations between the GWU and the operator, together with Tranport Malta, can continue, hopefully addressing a number of discrepancies in working conditions."
