An unfortunate soldier was hoisted by his own (fiery) petard during an anti-terrorism training conducted by the Armed Forces of Malta.

A video uploaded on YouTube shows a soldier simulating an attack in which the anti-riot squad would have to protect itself from individuals throwing Molotov Cocktails.

At one point, while the anti-riot squad is moving back, the man picks up the incendiary weapon from the ground and burns himself while trying to hurl it at the squad.

The man in the video is then seen flailing his arms in an attempt to quell the flames. Luckily for him, a second soldier was close at hand with a fire extinguisher.

The Armed Forces of Malta has launched an investigation into the matter, state media reports.
