New book on workplace stress launched

A new book, launched this morning by minister Helena Dalli, aims to educate readers on how to deal with the symptoms of stress at work. 

An EU-OHSA survey shows that 51% of employees across Europe believe that stress is a common occurrence at work, while 16% believe it is very common.

A new book, entitled 'Stress In The Workplace: A handbook for practitioners', by authors Vince Cassar and Dr Mark Borg, was launched this morning by civil liberties minister Helena Dalli. It aims to educate readers on how to deal with the symptoms of stress at work. 

Dalli stressed the need for further work to to be done on reducing stress in the workplace because it is detrimental to workers, productivity and the families of employees as well.

The authors explained that the book is geared towards those in management positions as well as individuals responsible for health and safety in the workplace and HR managers.

They also explained that the book sought to shed light on the subtle and damaging phenomenon of workplace stress, which can often go unnoticed. 

Chairman of the OSHA Deo Debattista explained how the Authority is working to identify work-related problems that trigger stress in order to address them, involving at times the expertise of psychologists.
